Welcome to Kindergarten…2010-2011
We are hoping to teach your child early literacy and math skills while developing a love for reading and learning. Hopefully the information below will answer some of your questions.
Lining up: Kindergarteners line up in the back of the school when the bell rings. On rainy days you will be permitted to enter the basement at 8:10am and line your children up at the door to the stairway. The children are not allowed to run around the basement. Also, please do not use the front door as it can be very congested unless your child is late. Students will also be dismissed at the back door.
Snack: Your child needs a small snack each day and a small water bottle…no juice please for snack.
Lunch: Please send in a lunch for your child unless your child is eligible for free lunch. Paid lunch or reduced lunch monies will be collected on Thursdays along with milk money. Please send in correct change.
Water Bottles: The classroom is hot all year long. Please send in a water bottle. We will send it home when it is empty or on Fridays. Make sure you put your child’s name on the bottle. We are trying to promote healthy habits for the future.
Gym clothes: Please send in your child wearing play clothes on Thursdays and sneakers as we have gym.
Art Class: Art is on Tuesdays. Sometimes we paint so please send in play clothes.
Library: We go to the library on Wednesdays. Your child will bring home a library book. Please read it with your child and return it by the next Wednesday. Your child cannot take another book till it is returned. If it is lost or damaged, you are responsible to replace the book for our school library.
School Store: We will go to the school store once a month. Items cost from $ .25 to $1.00. Your child will be able to purchase an item at the store.
Kindergarten Capers: A newsletter will be sent home once a month to inform you about upcoming events and curriculum.
Recess: We go outside for gym and recess all winter depending on the weather. Please send in warm jackets, hats and mittens. Label your child’s items.
Lost and Found: We try very hard to keep track of the children’s belongings but we are not perfect! Occasionally we lose an item or two. Please bring it to our attention and we will try to track it down.
Homework: We will send homework home on Monday nights. It is YOUR responsibility to make sure your Kindergartener does his/her homework.
It is a grade on your child’s report card.
Book Orders: Order forms are sent home once a month if you wish to participate. Please send in a check or the correct amount with your order.
Open communication: Please keep the lines of communication open with me!! I am here to help your child. I stay late on Tuesdays if you wish to speak to me or you may e-mail me at gallantm@lynnschools.org.
