School Hours - 8:15 am - 2:15 pm. Children will be marked tardy after 8:30 am.
Breakfast - Breakfast begins at 8:15 am and ends at 8:30 am. If your child eats breakfast at school, please make sure they arrive at 8:15 to allow enough time to eat.
Snack – We have a quick “working snack” each morning. Please send in a small snack with your child - one food item and/or one drink only. No candy, soda, gum, or glass bottles please. The healthier - the better!
Attendance - Please call the office and leave a message when your child is going to be absent or late. Remember to send in a note upon return to school.
Homework - Regular homework is sent home Monday-Thursday. Please check your child’s backpack and homework folder each day for important notices, tests, finished papers, etc. Homework is for practicing skills we have worked on at school. I check the homework each day for completion. Please help your child fix incorrect homework items, since first graders respond best to immediate feedback. By the time they get to school in the morning, they are ready for new work.
Take-Home Books – Every morning before the bell rings, your child has the opportunity to trade in their take-home book for a new one. A prize is given for each completed reading log.
Weekly Tests – Phonics/Spelling and Reading Comprehension Tests are given every Friday. Math tests occur at the end of each chapter. Please go over all homework, take-home papers and tests with your child to see where they may need extra help.
Personal Belongings – Please write your child’s name inside coats, lunch boxes, and backpacks. It helps when kids have identical things.

School Supplies Many families have already sent in some of these items, but if not, here’s a suggested list. 1. Homework Folder – any sturdy folder for homework, take-home papers, parent notices. 2. Black Expo dry-erase marker and something to use as a whiteboard eraser (an old sock or washcloth works just fine). 3. Glue Stick 4. Pair of school scissors (Fiskars or similar brand). 5. Plastic pencil box. 6. Box of tissues.
