PTO NEWS MARCH 2010

We would like to thank all the students, parents, staff and teachers for a great year thus far.

Our holiday fair was a great success and we are looking forward to the next couple of month’s activities.  This year is going by so quickly summer will be here before we know it!

We are looking for your continued help for the next few planned events

We will be having our Spring Family Dance at Hood School on Friday, April 30th from 6pm-8pm.  We will need volunteers to help us set up at 5:30 pm.  We also need people to manage the food and raffle tables throughout the evening.  Finally we need a few people to help clean up and stay until 8:30 pm. Admission will be $3 per person or $10 per family.  Admission will include a free raffle ticket for each child.  There will be a DJ for entertainment.

We are asking for donations to fill baskets to be raffled off at the end of the dance.  The following grades are being asked to fill baskets with these themes.  You may start sending in donated items anytime.

KDG – Crayola

Gr. 1 - Girl or Boy Toys

Gr. 2 – Gardening

Gr. 3 – Beach

Gr. 4 – BBQ/Grilling

Gr. 5 – Movie Night

Next, the PTO will be providing our teachers and staff with a Staff Appreciation Luncheon on Thursday, May 4th from 11:30am – 12:30pm. We need volunteers to help cover the teacher’s classroom for one hour.  This way they can relax and enjoy their lunch.

Lastly, our June Field Day will be held on June 1st with a rain date of June 3rd.  This is an all day event (8:30am – 2:00pm) and we will need many volunteers for the day to run smoothly.  We will need help setting up and cleaning up.  This is a fun filled day for all and is Free.

Boxtops and Pennies

Please remember to continue to send in your Boxtops.  Each one is worth  $ .10 to go towards supplies for our school.  These must be sent in attached to the Boxtops sheets available at the school.  Please ask your child’s teacher for blank sheets.

Also please remember to send in your pennies for technology.  The class who collects the most will win a pizza party at the end of the school year!  Keep the pennies coming!

If you are available to help for any of the above listed events please contact the PTO at 781-477-7320.  We greatly appreciate all your help and it will make all these events run smoothly.

PTO News September 2009

Welcome to a new school year!  We would like to give you a preview of what we have planned for the upcoming school year.

We are kicking off our fall fundraiser with Lavender on Monday September 14, 2009.  This is our second year with this company and we are excited to have them join in our efforts.  Please help us to make this a successful start to the year.  Lavender will be rewarding the high sellers this year will grand rewards.  Complete details will come home with your student.  Please review all forms.

Once again we will be offering Aborn Spiritwear.  We are using Heritage Spiritwear again this year.  Order forms will be coming home soon with all students and there will be samples available at the Open House on Wednesday September 22, 2009.  If you have questions on sizing please come and take a look.

School store will be held the first Wed. of the following months, Oct., Nov., Jan., March, April and May.  These dates are subject to change.  Students will be able to shop at the store with their class that morning.  Prices will range from $ .25 to $2.00.

We will have three PTO meetings this school year.  Thurs. Nov 5th, Thurs. March 11, and Thurs. May 6th.   We will be discussing future events at these meetings.  We welcome you to attend and share any and all ideas.

We will be selling Cash Calendar raffles throughout the month of November.  All raffles will be drawn in the month of December with a bonus day on Christmas, December 25th worth $100.  Please help this to be a successful fundraiser.

The annual Holiday Fair will be held on Wednesday December 9, 2009.  The fair is held across the street at the Bethany Church.  This is an opportunity for the students to shop for holiday gifts for family and friends at reasonable prices.  Each student will come with their class; parents and family are invited to join us as well.  We will have shopping, raffles and fun!  We need volunteers to help out to make this a pleasant and successful experience for everyone.

June Field Day will be held on Tuesday June 1, 2010 with a rain date of Thursday June 3, 2010.  This is a fun day for the whole Aborn Family.  All students, teachers and volunteers will receive a free Field Day T-Shirt, lunch and slush.  We will also need lots of volunteers for this to be a successful event.  We have had a great turnout over the past few years and it has been such a fabulous day of fun.  Please help again this year!

Ongoing throughout the year we collect Boxtops.  All sheets must be filled out completely with the Boxtops glued or taped to the sheet. Sheets are always available at the school.

We are looking for someone to be our Boxtop Coordinator.  If you are interested or have any questions please talk to one of the members of the PTO.

Summer Boxtop sheets for the drawing to win the Bengal Tiger Webkinz must be in by Fri. Sept 25th.  We still have some sheets available for this so please ask your child’s student for a blank sheet.

Lastly, we collect pennies in each classroom.  The classroom that collects the most pennies at the end of the school year will receive a reward!   All money collected from the pennies for technology drive help to supply the computer lab with toner, paper and any needed supplies.
