Dear Fourth Grade Parents,

 

As some of you may know the fifth grade students spent a week at Nature’s Classroom in New Hampshire last November.  A great time was had by all of the students and teachers!   Next school year when your fourth grader moves into the fifth grade he or she will also have the opportunity to spend a week at Nature’s Classroom.  This year we are trying to go to their new facility in Charlton, MA.

 

Right now we are in the planning stages of this trip and need your help.  Last year we were scrambling to coordinate fundraisers to pay for the bus and other necessities.  We are trying to avoid this situation again.   Planning this trip takes time and energy and the teachers can’t do it all by themselves.  We are looking for a few parents to help organize fundraisers to pay for the bus and possibly cut down on the cost each child has to pay.  The cost per child has yet to be determined.

 

We would like to make some suggestions for you and your child to help raise the money that is needed in order for your child to attend.  Some ideas are:

1. Cut lawns during the summer
2. Chores around the house
3. Seek donations from relatives
4. Cash for birthday presents

 

Now, we understand that parents may be apprehensive about sending their child away for a week.   Let us assure you that the kids are watched at all times and are never left alone.   The teachers, as well as the Nature’s Classroom staff, keep a constant eye on the students.  This trip is nothing but fun, fun, fun.  The classes that the students take at Nature’s Classroom are not like anything they would get to do in the classroom.

 

We were fortunate enough to have had Mr. Eddy create a blog on the daily happenings while the students were at Nature’s Classroom.  He also created a webpage on Aborn’s site with pictures of many of the activities the kids participated in.  These will give you some insight as to what the kids will do and the fun that they will have.

Also, if you have any fundraising ideas please pass them along to us.  Last year we had a donation of Red Sox tickets to raffle off.  This raised a large sum of money.  If you, someone you know, or a company you know of would like to donate something of this nature for our fundraising efforts it would be greatly appreciated.
